Work, Power & Energy calculator

Work, Power & Energy Calculator

What is Work, Power & Energy?

In physics, work, power, and energy are closely related concepts that describe how forces cause motion and how fast energy is transferred. Work is said to be done when a force causes an object to move in the direction of the force. It is mathematically defined as: Work (W) = Force × Distance and is measured in joules (J).

Power describes how quickly work is done or how fast energy is transferred. It is defined as: Power (P) = Work ÷ Time and is measured in watts (W). A higher power value means the same amount of work is done in less time.

Energy is the capacity to do work. In many practical situations, energy consumed or produced is equal to the work done. This calculator focuses on the relationship: Work = Power × Time, which is widely used in physics, electrical engineering, and everyday applications like electricity consumption.

How to Use This Calculator

This calculator allows you to compute any one of the three values — Work, Power, or Time — by entering the other two. Simply leave the value you want to calculate empty, fill in the remaining two fields, and click Calculate.

Example:
If a machine operates at a power of 500 W for 2 hours, leave the Work field empty. Enter Power = 500 W and Time = 2 h. The calculator will compute the work done as 3,600,000 J (3.6 MJ).

This tool is extremely useful for students, engineers, and exam preparation, helping you quickly verify numerical problems without manual calculations.
